David Mesfin was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. At a young age he was exposed to advertising while working along side his father at Neon Addis Advertising. He immigrated to the US at the age of 14 and eventually graduated with a BFA degree in Visual Communication from California State University, Long Beach, he focused on national brand campaigns at several advertising agencies.

Throughout his career, David has helped clients with integrated conceptual thinking that effectively led to award-winning creative and marketing successes for Hyundai, Honda, Farmers Insurance, Adidas, La-Z-Boy, McAfee software, Sony, and Mandalay Bay. His multi-disciplinary background and approach in creative execution shape brand storytelling through multiple avenues in today’s increasingly complex marketplace.

David Mesfin, an Associate Creative Director at the agency Innocean Worldwide, in Huntington Beach, CA, where he has worked on numerous projects including Hyundai’s Super Bowl TV commercial and campaign as well as the 2014 World Cup campaign, #BecauseFutbol. His efforts include television, digital media, and traditional print and outdoor advertising. His social media work helped Hyundai to become the top branded hashtag among World Cup conversations on Twitter and raised Hyundai’s Twitter following by 40 percent.
David has taught advertising and design at his alma mater, California State University, Long Beach.

David has received numerous awards from the creative and advertising industry such as the One Show, Cannes, Clio, Webby, Communication Arts, Google Creative Sandbox, Addy, DIGIDAY, TED | Ads Worth Spreading, American Advertising Federation, FWA, The A-List Hollywood Awards, IAB Mixx, EFFIE, and Graphis.
